AION 2 Pet Transform

AION 2 Pet Transform lets your character temporarily take the form of the pet you have equipped. On the current Global version, an eligible regular pet must reach Pet Insight Level 3 before it can transform. Equip that pet, consume one Empathy Candy, and the transformation lasts 300 seconds, or five minutes.

Unlocking Transform does not automatically activate it or give you a permanent transformation skill. The pet requirement and the Candy requirement are separate: Insight 3 makes the pet eligible, while one Candy is consumed for each use. Most regular pets work, but some Special pets do not. Current Global guidance specifically identifies the Black Dragon as an excluded pet.

Pet Transform requirements

The soul total is easy to misread. If you already own the pet, you need 100 additional souls to advance it from its unlocked state to Insight 3. Starting from no pet at all, the complete cost is 105 souls: 5 to unlock it, 25 for the next Insight level, and 75 for Insight 3.

Unlock Pet Transform at Insight 3

Your first task is to choose one eligible regular pet and collect enough copies of its soul. Pet souls are tied to individual pets, so souls for one creature do not advance a different creature. Open the pet menu through the main menu or with Alt + X, select the pet you want, and inspect its current Insight progress.

The progression for a new pet is:

1. Collect 5 souls to unlock the pet.
2. Collect 25 more souls to reach Pet Insight Level 2.
3. Collect 75 more souls to reach Pet Insight Level 3.
4. Confirm that the pet now shows its Transform function.
5. Equip this pet before using an Empathy Candy.

Use the pet menu's Source tab when you need to find the available source for that specific pet. Current Global guidance lists several possible acquisition routes across the pet system, including matching monsters, reward chests, direct pet rewards, and merchant stock. The applicable route depends on the selected pet, so the Source tab is more reliable than assuming every soul drops from an open-world monster.

Duplicate pets can also become souls for a pet you already own. This means a direct pet reward may still contribute to Insight progress rather than becoming useless. Keep the entire 105-soul path in mind when estimating the grind: reaching the initial five-soul unlock is only the first stage.

Do not follow an older guide that tells Global players to reach Insight Level 5. Earlier regional material describes a higher pet cap, but the current Global requirement is Insight Level 3. A pet reaching Insight 3 unlocks eligibility; it does not remove the need to equip the pet and consume a Candy.

Use an Empathy Candy to transform

Once the pet reaches Insight 3, the actual transformation is short:

1. Open the pet menu.
2. Select an eligible regular pet at Insight 3.
3. Choose Equip so it becomes your current pet.
4. Make sure an Empathy Candy is available in your inventory.
5. Consume one Candy.
6. Confirm that your character changes into the equipped pet.

The Candy uses the pet that is equipped at the moment of activation. If you want a different appearance, switch pets before consuming the item. You cannot change the active pet while transformed, so cancel the transformation first if you chose the wrong one.

The effect lasts five minutes unless you end it early. Current Global observations identify the transformation among the active buffs, where its icon can be used to cancel the form manually. Allowing the timer to expire also returns the character to normal.

Pet Transform does not create a permanent selectable appearance. Every new activation requires another Candy, including another transformation into the same pet. Avoid testing the item with a random equipped pet if you are saving a limited supply for a specific form.

Get Empathy Candy

There are two supported Candy routes: the Shugo Festival Shop and Pet Collection Status rewards. Pet Insight itself is not a Candy source. Reaching Insight 3 and seeing Transform listed on a pet therefore does not mean the game will place a Candy in your inventory.

Buy Candy from the Shugo Festival Shop

The Festival Shop lists one Empathy Candy for 20 Centuryroot Tokens. Enter the Shugo Festival, open its shop, and check the Consumables section for the item. The Shugo Festival unlocks at character level 13.

Centuryroot Tokens come from participating in Shugo Festival minigames and using a Shugo Festival Reward Key to claim their rewards. Participation and reward collection are separate steps, so completing a minigame without opening its keyed reward may leave you short of the required tokens.

Festival activities operate in limited entry windows. Check the schedule shown inside the current Global client instead of relying on a regional timetable or an old event post. When the activity is available, the practical loop is:

1. Join a Shugo Festival minigame during its entry window.
2. Complete the activity.
3. Spend the appropriate Festival Reward Key to collect the reward.
4. Accumulate at least 20 Centuryroot Tokens.
5. Buy an Empathy Candy from Festival Shop → Consumables.

The 20-token price is the shop cost for one activation item, not the cost to unlock Pet Transform permanently. Because each Candy is consumed, repeated transformations require repeated purchases or collection rewards.

Claim Pet Collection Status rewards

Pet Collection Status milestones provide another supply. The current Global collection milestone listing awards 10 Empathy Candies at each of these owned-pet totals:

• 50 pets
• 100 pets
• 150 pets
• 200 pets

These are collection milestones based on the number of pets owned, not the Insight level of one favorite pet. Check and claim completed Collection Status rewards in the pet interface; reaching a threshold does not mean a Candy came from the pet whose Insight you just raised.

Collection rewards provide batches of Candy, while the Festival Shop provides a repeatable purchase route when its activity and shop are available. If you plan to use transformation regularly, keep collection progress and Centuryroot Tokens separate from the souls reserved for raising the chosen pet.

What changes while transformed

Pet Transform changes your character into the appearance of the equipped pet for five minutes. The form applies the pet's visual presentation and movement behavior while you control it. It does not make the pet a new combat class or give you the creature's enemy abilities.

Current Global references indicate that you can continue using your own skills while transformed. They do not establish a separate transformation stat package or unique attack set, so treat the feature primarily as a temporary character form rather than a combat build system.

This shows the character’s pet form in-world, separate from riding a mount.

A small pet form may be less visually conspicuous in a crowded area or open-world PvP, but the effect is not stealth. Other players can still notice, target, and attack you. Do not use a Candy expecting invisibility, target protection, or immunity.

Several restrictions matter during the five-minute effect:

• You cannot mount while the transformation is active.
• You cannot change the equipped pet until you cancel the transformation.
• Using another pet appearance requires ending the current form, equipping the new pet, and consuming another Candy.
• The form can be ended early through its active buff icon.
• Expiration returns the character to normal automatically.

These rules make the equipped-pet check important. The Candy does not open a selection screen after use; it transforms you into the pet already active.

Pet Transform and riding a pet are different

AION 2 uses pets both as companions and as rideable mounts, which makes the word “Transform” easy to misinterpret. Unlocking a pet is enough to make its basic mount use available. Pet Transform is a separate feature that turns the player character into the pet's form.

If your goal is simply faster travel, you do not need to farm all the way to Insight 3 or spend a Candy just to ride an unlocked pet. If your goal is to make your character look like the pet, mounting will not produce that result. You need the full transformation path.

The two states are also mutually exclusive while Transform is active: you cannot mount until you cancel the pet form or let its timer finish. This is expected behavior rather than evidence that the mount is broken.

Fix common Pet Transform problems

Transform unlocked but nothing happened

Insight 3 only unlocks the pet's eligibility. It does not trigger an automatic transformation and does not guarantee that a Candy will be awarded. Equip the eligible pet, verify that an Empathy Candy is in your inventory, and consume the item manually.

The guide says Insight 5 is required

That requirement belongs to older regional pet progression. The current Global version uses Insight 3. For a newly collected pet, the supported Global total is 105 souls: 5 for ownership and another 100 across the 25- and 75-soul Insight steps.

The Candy produced the wrong pet form

The item uses the currently equipped pet. Cancel the transformation through its buff icon, equip the intended pet, and use another Candy. The first Candy is still consumed, so always confirm the equipped pet before activation.

The pet is Insight 3 but cannot transform

Check whether it is a regular, eligible pet. Some Special pets do not support the feature, and Black Dragon is a confirmed exception in current Global guidance. Reaching the required Insight level does not override an excluded pet's restriction.

You cannot mount or switch pets

Both actions are restricted during the transformation. Cancel the active transformation or wait for its five-minute timer to expire, then mount or change pets normally.

No Empathy Candy appeared after leveling the pet

Candy acquisition is separate from soul progression. Buy one for 20 Centuryroot Tokens in the Shugo Festival Shop or claim an eligible Pet Collection Status milestone. Raising one pet to Insight 3 does not itself award a Candy.

The Festival Shop route is unavailable

First confirm that the character has reached level 13. Then check the current in-game Shugo Festival schedule and entry window. If the activity is not presently accessible, inspect Pet Collection Status for a completed milestone rather than assuming that a regional schedule applies to Global.

The transformation ended sooner than expected

The normal maximum duration is five minutes, but manually canceling the active buff ends it early. A canceled Candy is not restored. Before using the item, make sure you are ready to use the form and do not remove its buff icon accidentally.
