AION 2 released globally on October 5, 2026, at 13:00 UTC. The free-to-play Global service launched simultaneously on Windows PC through Steam and PURPLE. Paid Advance Access had already opened on September 30, while the separate Korean and Taiwanese services had launched much earlier, on November 19, 2025.
The date shown on your calendar depends on your time zone. Most regions received the Global launch on October 5, but it was already October 6 in Sydney, Melbourne, and New Zealand when the servers opened. This was a time-zone difference, not a later regional rollout.
As of October 9, 2026, the Global launch, Advance Access period, and September Launch Scale Test are all historical events. A release date confirms when service began; it does not prove that every server is currently online or free of maintenance.
The confirmed Global release date
The official Global launch occurred on Monday, October 5, 2026. The shared unlock time was 13:00 UTC, equivalent to 6:00 AM Pacific Daylight Time and 9:00 AM Eastern Daylight Time in the United States.

The essential release details are:
| Release detail | Confirmed information |
|---|---|
| Global release date | October 5, 2026 |
| Global release time | 13:00 UTC |
| Release model | Simultaneous worldwide unlock |
| Global platforms at launch | Windows PC through Steam and PURPLE |
| Entry price | Free to play |
| Paid head start | September 30 through October 4, 2026 |
| Korean and Taiwanese launch | November 19, 2025 |
Steam and PURPLE provide the same Global game content and connect to the same servers. They are launcher choices rather than different releases. Installation steps, account-linking problems, and download troubleshooting belong to the dedicated platform and download guides, but they do not change the October 5 launch date.
The phrase worldwide release also needs one qualification: it identifies the Global service launch, not the first time AION 2 was available anywhere. Korea and Taiwan had already received their own regional services in 2025. Those clients have a different rollout history and should not be used as a substitute for the Global launch calendar.
Global release time by region
AION 2 opened globally at one shared moment. The following table converts 13:00 UTC on October 5, 2026 into representative local times that were in effect on launch day.
| Region or city | Time zone on launch day | Local release time |
|---|---|---|
| Los Angeles | PDT, UTC−7 | October 5 at 6:00 AM |
| Denver | MDT, UTC−6 | October 5 at 7:00 AM |
| Chicago | CDT, UTC−5 | October 5 at 8:00 AM |
| New York | EDT, UTC−4 | October 5 at 9:00 AM |
| São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro | BRT, UTC−3 | October 5 at 10:00 AM |
| London | BST, UTC+1 | October 5 at 2:00 PM |
| Central Europe | CEST, UTC+2 | October 5 at 3:00 PM |
| South Africa | SAST, UTC+2 | October 5 at 3:00 PM |
| Japan | JST, UTC+9 | October 5 at 10:00 PM |
| Beijing | China Standard Time, UTC+8 | October 5 at 9:00 PM |
| Philippines | PHT, UTC+8 | October 5 at 9:00 PM |
| Perth | AWST, UTC+8 | October 5 at 9:00 PM |
| Brisbane | AEST, UTC+10 | October 5 at 11:00 PM |
| Sydney and Melbourne | AEDT, UTC+11 | October 6 at 12:00 AM |
| New Zealand | NZDT, UTC+13 | October 6 at 2:00 AM |
Australia is the main place where broad conversion tables can be misleading. Sydney and Melbourne were observing daylight-saving time, so their launch date became October 6 at midnight. Brisbane remained on AEST and received the same unlock at 11:00 PM on October 5. Perth received it at 9:00 PM on October 5. Describing the entire Australian east coast as AEDT would therefore give Brisbane players the wrong local time.
Older articles may display PT, ET, BST, or CEST without spelling out whether daylight-saving time applies. For this launch, the UTC anchor is the safest reference: October 5 at 13:00 UTC. Converting from that fixed moment avoids confusing the release with later seasonal clock changes.
The release timeline from regional launch to Global launch
AION 2 reached players through several distinct milestones. Treating every milestone as the release date creates contradictory answers, especially when an article discusses the Korean and Taiwanese launch, a temporary test, or paid Advance Access without naming the service.
| Milestone | Date | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Korea and Taiwan release | November 19, 2025 | Launch of the earlier regional services |
| Global release date announced | August 2026 | NC confirmed the October 5 PC launch at gamescom |
| Global Launch Scale Test | September 17–18, 2026 | Temporary pre-launch infrastructure test |
| Global Advance Access begins | September 30, 2026 | Five-day paid head start for Founder’s Pack owners |
| Advance Access ends | October 4, 2026 | Final day before free entry opened |
| Global release | October 5, 2026 | Free-to-play launch on Steam and PURPLE |
The September 17–18 Launch Scale Test was not the retail release. It was a limited test intended to check an environment resembling the live service, and its progress did not carry into the later launch periods. Details about participation and the wipe belong to the dedicated playtest guide; for release-date purposes, the important point is that September 17 was a test date, not the start of permanent Global progression.
Advance Access was different. It used the complete game service, retained character progress, and let eligible players begin five days before the public launch. That makes September 30 a real start date for Founder’s Pack owners, but it still does not replace October 5 as the official Global free-to-play release date.
Advance Access and the official launch
NC used several closely related labels around the paid head start. Steam used Advance Access, while some notices and guides used Advanced Access or the more familiar term Early Access. In this context, all three referred to the five-day Founder’s Pack head start beginning on September 30, 2026.
This was not the same as a game remaining in Steam Early Access for an unfinished development period. It was a short, paid opening of the retail service before free access began. Owners of any of the three Founder’s Pack tiers could enter during the head start, and the complete online feature set was available rather than the restricted environment used for the Launch Scale Test.
Progress made during Advance Access was retained after October 5. Players did not face another wipe when the free-to-play launch arrived. That distinction is useful when reading old discussions:
- Launch Scale Test progress was temporary and did not transfer.
- Advance Access progress belonged to the live service and continued after launch.
- October 5 was the point when players no longer needed a Founder’s Pack to enter the Global game.
The Founder’s Pack purchase decision, edition contents, and historical value comparison belong to the dedicated Founder’s Pack and Early Access pages. They are no longer prerequisites for starting the Global game because the public launch has already occurred.
Korea and Taiwan used a different release date
AION 2 first launched in Korea and Taiwan on November 19, 2025. That date remains correct for those regional services, but it is not the Global Steam and PURPLE release date. A page that simply says AION 2 released in November 2025 may be discussing the original regional rollout rather than the later Global product.
The difference extends beyond the calendar. Korea and Taiwan received their own clients and later content progression before the Global launch. Their services also included mobile availability, whereas the Global launch described here was for Windows PC. Global characters did not inherit progress from the Korean or Taiwanese services.
This separation matters when checking guides published before October 2026. Information from a later Korean or Taiwanese update may describe content, level caps, classes, or systems that were not part of the Global launch snapshot. The Global service began with eight classes and a level-45 progression context. Later regional additions should not be treated as proof that the same feature existed in Global on October 5.
The regional launch date is still useful for understanding why screenshots, guides, and gameplay footage existed long before the Global release. Those materials were not necessarily leaks or pre-release demonstrations; some came from a game that was already operating in Korea and Taiwan.
Global launch platforms and availability
The October 5 Global launch covered Windows PC through Steam and NC’s PURPLE launcher. Both launchers access the same content and shared server environment, so choosing one did not change the official release time.
The Korean and Taiwanese availability of mobile clients does not establish a Global mobile release. Likewise, the development of a future console version does not provide a PlayStation or Xbox release date. No confirmed console launch date belongs in the October 5 calendar.
These platform boundaries produce four clear interpretations:
- October 5, 2026 is the Global Windows PC release date.
- November 19, 2025 is the earlier Korea and Taiwan release date.
- Regional mobile availability does not mean the Global PC service launched on mobile.
- A console version being prepared is not the same as a scheduled console release.
Players looking specifically for PlayStation availability, installation instructions, or launcher account setup should use the dedicated platform pages. The release-date answer remains October 5 for the existing Global PC version.
Interpreting outdated countdowns and pre-launch pages
Many search results were written before launch and still use future-tense language such as coming soon, starts September 30, or releases October 5. The dates may be historically accurate even when the wording is stale. On October 9, 2026, none of the Global launch milestones is still upcoming.
Use the page’s subject to classify older information:
- A September 17 or September 18 date usually refers to the Launch Scale Test.
- A September 30 date usually refers to paid Advance Access.
- An October 5 date refers to the official Global free-to-play launch.
- A November 19, 2025 date refers to the Korean and Taiwanese regional launch.
- An October 6 date in Australia or New Zealand can be a correct local conversion of the October 5 UTC launch.
A countdown reaching zero only proves that its target time passed. It does not report current maintenance, queue conditions, character-creation restrictions, or server availability. Those are live operational questions and require current status information rather than a historical release schedule.
The most reliable compact answer is therefore: AION 2 launched globally on Windows PC on October 5, 2026, at 13:00 UTC, following paid Advance Access on September 30. Korea and Taiwan launched separately on November 19, 2025.
